Sinus surgery
If medical therapy is unsuccessful for in treating sinusitis, there are many new breakthrough treatments available now for patients who suffer with this disease. At Methodist Charlton ENT Associates, our specialist performs many sinus surgeries, including:
Nasal endoscopy
Nasal endoscopy is a simple, in-office procedure that allows the doctor to examine the interior of your nasal passages and the openings to your sinuses. This procedure helps the doctor make an accurate diagnosis and determine the best steps for your treatment.
Endoscopic sinus surgery
Endoscopic sinus surgery involves the insertion of the endoscope, a very thin fiber-optic tube, into the nose for a direct visual examination of the openings into the sinuses. With state-of-the-art micro-telescopes and instruments, abnormal and obstructive tissues are then removed. In the majority of cases, the surgical procedure is performed entirely through the nostrils, leaving no external scars. There is little swelling and only mild discomfort.
Balloon sinuplasty
Sinuplasty is an effective, minimally invasive procedure for chronic sinusitis patients seeking relief from uncomfortable sinus pain symptoms. Sinuplasty is a fairly new technique in sinus surgery. Instead of using endoscopic instruments, our surgeon will use balloons to dilate the sinus openings, while preserving the normal functioning tissue. The procedure is similar to angioplasty, the use of balloons to open blocked blood vessels.
